About Us
Our Story. Our Mission. Our Vision.
Our Story
Thrive Together was originally established in 1999 as Iowa Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services (IDWAS) by four local Deaf women, primarily to provide support, information, and peer counseling services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind women throughout Iowa. In 2004, the name was changed to Deaf Women of Iowa Against Abuse (DWIAA) and then later to just Deaf Iowans Against Abuse (DIAA).
In October of 2020, the name was changed to Thrive Together to make it more inclusive and to better encompass the wide variety of people whom we support the cause and mission of our organization.
Our Mission
We empower Deaf and individuals with hearing loss through Advocacy, Education & Collaboration.
Our Vision
We are a safe, judgment-free, organization with a variety of support services for all individuals with hearing loss to foster safe relationships and cultivate healthy communities.
